Clacton Pier Condemns “Extremely Irresponsible” Protest by British Democrats Candidate

Clacton Pier management has issued a strongly worded public statement condemning the actions of Kai Stephens, the British Democrats candidate in the upcoming Clacton parliamentary by-election, and members of his party after they entered the popular seaside attraction without permission.

According to the pier’s official Facebook post, titled “Statement of Events,” the group arrived carrying pyrotechnics and a large banner that they attempted to hang from the structure. Clacton Pier described the move as highly dangerous, noting the prolonged dry weather and the pier’s timber decking, which raised the clear risk of fire and potential serious harm to members of the public.

Security staff promptly asked the individuals to leave. The request, the statement said, was met with “an unacceptable level of verbal abuse and language wholly inappropriate for a family attraction.”“Clacton Pier is a place for everyone, and we firmly believe that visitors should be able to enjoy their day without disruption, intimidation or interference,” the post continued. “We will always take appropriate action to protect the safety and enjoyment of our visitors, staff and the Pier itself.”
